Stitching Our Futures Together: Embroidery 101

  • Mayday Space 176 Saint Nicholas Avenue Brooklyn, NY, 11237 United States (map)

Wednesday 10/8-11/7, 7-9PM

Sewing circles have been the platform for many personal and political revolutions. In this course we will learn 3 basic embroidery stitches*. Through dialogue we will envision what are the futures we want to see in the world, in the country, and in our communities. Each person will then design and stitch their own protest flag for the future. As we get clearer about the visions we have for where we are going we are more able to take actions today that keep us in line with that reality. Our course will end with a reception open to friends and family, with all flags displayed, each person will have the opportunity to talk about their flag, what it means to them and the future they envision.

*additional stitches may be taught depending on time and interest

**we’ll need a minimum of 5 students to register for the course in order to run it. If we don’t get 5, we’ll offer you a full refund**
